Your heart is key to your worship of God. God himself has a heart. Don’t be surprised by this, God made us like him.
Whatever you have in your form and likeness is exactly like God, because he made you like that.
God said concerning David, he’s a man after my own heart.
What does the Bible refer to when it uses the word heart? Most times, the reference to the heart is not your physical heart in your chest that beats. It’s not that muscle. When the Bible speaks about the heart, it speaks of your mind. God has given all believers a sound mind through his spirit when we become born again.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The Bible says, it is with our mind we worship the Lord.
Romans 7:25 (KJV) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Even when it comes to salvation our head or our mind is required.
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
So when God said David was a man after His own heart, he was effectively saying that David was after His mind. David was after the way He (God) thinks.
When you know the mind of a person, you fully understand their plans, values, proclivities, character, their intends, the things that excite them, and the things that discourage them. To fully know a person in that way is to have power over them.
That’s why the Bible advises us to Guard our hearts. Why? Because out of it comes the issues of life.
God said concerning his heart, that his mind is far above ours just as the heavens are far from the earth.
Isaiah 55:8 (KJV) For my thoughts ? are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
You cannot and will never know everything about God, because the day you do, you will effectively be like God. Therefore, it will not happen. God’s knowledge, wisdom, and understanding is God’s glory and He swore that His glory, He will share with no man.
1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
So tell yourself say self, Guard your glory. Guard your heart. Don’t always say what you think. Guard your heart. Don’t always share your secrets. Guard your heart. Don’t be too quick to reveal your plans with people. Guard your heart.
If you don’t guard your heart, you will lose stuff of importance in your life. God is a God of secrets; He shares some of them (a small part of them) with those who ? Him.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV) “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
If you want to know the mind of God concerning you, your future, who you were created to be, what you were created to do, you don’t need a psychic; you need God’s spirit, His Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:11-12 (KJV) “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
If Joseph heard this message, his pathway to Egypt may have been easier. He may have gotten lost searching for his brothers in the desert perhaps caught by the Ishmaelites and taken into Egypt and sold as a slave. The outcome would have been the same, but the process would have been less painful. Instead, the young, inexperienced man began to share his mind, his thoughts, and visions with his brothers who already envied him. Because of his foolishness, he almost died. Had it not been for the Grace over his life and the plans God had preordained for Israel, Joseph would have lost his life. God intervened and spared his life. His brothers were not playing around. They wanted to kill him because of his dreams.
Genesis 37:19-21 (KJV) “And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Come now, therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.”
Tell yourself and say self, shut up about it. ?
They don’t need to know, shut up about it. They don’t need to be impressed, shut up about it; they don’t like you anyway, shut up about it. Stop sharing your mind with everyone you meet. You will always find yourself in problems if you can’t stop talking.
The Bible says, be quick to hear but slow to speak”. Tell somebody you care about..shut up, shut up.
Even God has secrets that he will not share.
Proverbs 25:2 (KJV) “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.”
Samson lost his anointing because he wouldn’t ?. He met a prostitute named Delilah and told her all that was in his heart. He lost his eyes and his life. Guard your heart, for out of it comes the issues of life.
You are only as strong as your secrets. The minute you share your secrets, you lose power to the one who now knows them. They will begin to handle you differently when they know everything about you.
